To open a death benefit pension account on behalf of your client: 

  1. Log in to Adviser Online
  2. Select Applications and click Open an account
  3. When asked ‘Is this a death benefit pension?’, click Yes.

You can view further requirements of opening a new pension account in the Open a Pension account for your client Help Centre article.  

You’ll need to provide certain additional documents to open a new death benefit pension. This is to ensure that it is compliant and created correctly. We’ll request:

  • Tax File Number of the deceased
  • date of death
  • date of birth of deceased
  • name of deceased
  • the rollover from an existing death benefit pension  
  • a death benefit rollover benefit statement for any rollovers received.
