Where an asset is transferred and the transfer causes a change in beneficial ownership (CBO), this is a Capital Gains Tax (CGT) event. This means that a CBO may attract capital gains tax that may affect the current owner of the asset. The new owner of the asset is purchasing the asset from the current owner, generally at the value of the transfer.
