Understanding automatic rebalancing

Automatic rebalancing is one of the automated investment management tools that helps you to manage your client’s portfolio balances. It can help you maintain your client’s portfolio in line with their original investment strategy. It does this by rebalancing their portfolio according to predetermined investment allocation.

Automatic rebalancing is only available to Voyage and PortfolioOne products.

1. Log in to Adviser Online
2. Select Clients, then Accounts
3. Search for and select your client's wrap account
4. Select Portfolio, then Administration
5. Under Automated plans, expand the Periodic rebalancing accordion and select the Add periodic rebalancing button
6. Select Enter or maintain automatic rebalancing
7. Select a frequency for the automatic rebalancing to occur
8. Enter a start date
9. Enter a final date or select Until further notice
10. Enter a rebalancing tolerance percentage. Rebalancing won’t occur if the difference between the portfolio percentages and rebalancing percentages are within the specified tolerance level.
11. Enter the Next rebalance date if you desire. Please note, this date must be at least three months after the plan was established or last run.
12. Select Continue to confirm the changes.

4. Select Portfolio, then Administration
5. Under Automated plans, expand the Periodic rebalancing accordion and select the Update periodic rebalancing button
6. Select Enter or maintain automatic rebalancing
7. You can then amend the:
   • frequency
   • next rebalancing date
   • final date
   • rebalancing tolerance percentage, and
   • asset rebalancing percentage.
8. Select Continue to confirm the changes.

If an asset is closed to new investments, the closed investment’s allocation will be proportionately redistributed across the remaining open investments in the automatic rebalancing plan.

Automatic rebalancing plans occur on the 24th of each month. When that falls on a weekend, the plan will run the following business day. You can choose the plan to run quarterly, half-yearly, or annually.

The minimum order required for automatic rebalancing plans is $50 per order. For rebalancing to activate, the orders created must be greater than the minimum order amount for the product.

You can cancel an automatic rebalancing plan:

• today, or
• at a future date.
