What is multi-factor authentication?

Multi-factor authentication is a secure way to verify you and your account activity.

You have the option to approve via an actionable push notification or a 6-digit secure code in the Macquarie Authenticator app (Authenticator app).

Do I need to set up multi-factor authentication?

Yes, you’ll need to have multi-factor authentication in place to use the online portal.

How do I set up multi-factor authentication?

Step 1: Register for multi-factor authentication

The first time you log in to the online portal, you’ll be prompted to register for multi-factor authentication. If you're a new client, your welcome email will contain a link for first-time registration that skips some of the steps below.

Please note that whenever the Authenticator app asks you for your Macquarie ID, this is your existing Access Code that you use to log in to the online portal.

If you’re presented with a registration page:

  1. Enter your Access Code and mobile number
  2. Click Submit
  3. Enter the SMS secure code that has been sent to your mobile
  4. Create your password
  5. Select submit
  6. Create your username
  7. Complete your security questions
  8. Select Submit
  9. From the Download and register for Macquarie Authenticator app page, scan the QR code and follow the prompts to download and link your device to your Access Code
  10. Select Return to log in
  11. Enter your Access Code and password
  12. Follow the prompts on the online portal and the Authenticator app to access the online portal.

Step 2: Download the Macquarie Authenticator app

To complete your setup, go to your device’s app store, search for and download the Macquarie Authenticator app. The Authenticator app is free to download.

Once you’ve downloaded and opened the Authenticator app, follow the on-screen prompts to link your account details and start using the online portal.
